You recently bought a fresh new disc of your favourite game. But the threat of it getting stolen, lost or unusable due to wear and tear haunts you daily. If your favourite game disc is unusable what would you do? Move on and buy a new game or spend again for buying the same game again. There is one legal alternative to it.

You can make legal copies of your own PS2 games for backup. Just burn PS2 games on another disc. Though utilising the backup discs is not easy. You need following tools.

1: Compatible copy making software.

2: Proper hardware to make copies.

3: A PS2 mod chip or a boot disc.

Steps for burning PS2 games on a back up disc are as follows. You need to purchase proper software to copy your PS2 games. The software you purchase should have a capability to overcome the anti-piracy protection present in most of the discs containing legal copies of PS2 games. This anti-piracy protection deteriorates elements of the game so that the copy becomes useless.

Once you have purchased the software, you need a media to create copies for back up. Generally PS2 games come in CD-ROMS or DVD formats. So you need a media such as CD/DVD writers and readers. A DVD R/W combo is best suited as it can read CD-ROM DVD’s and also write CD-ROMS and DVD’s. Creating backups is an easy task. But utilising this backup on your PS2 is difficult task.

In order to play your backup legal copies you will need a PS2 mod chip or a boot disc. PS2 mod chips are chips which need to be soldered within your console, so you need to open your consoles case and your console is warranty void after this. An alternative is to use boot discs. All you need to do is insert the PS2 boot discs before using the backup legal copies. This method does not void the consoles warranty.

So if you want to save your money and time making the backup copies could be a solution to your problems.
